Background:
More than half the world lives in poverty and in Haiti the need is unmatched by any other country in the Latin American and Caribbean region. Christian Aid aims to put a stop to that working with local organizations to give people strength to find their own solutions to the problems they face. If you’re as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen. Christian Aid is seeking a Program Funding Officer to help to raise the institutional funds necessary to develop our programs. The level of need in Haiti acerbate after the earthquake means that there are a large number of donors that want to support the reconstruction and development efforts. Our partners on the ground have the capacity to deliver real and meaningful support in some of the most deprived areas. We want to ensure that they have the funds they need in order to continue their essential work.

About the role:
The roles’ main focus is to support the work of Christian Aid, its international partners and alliances. It’s essential that you have experience of preparing reports and writing bids for donors such as the EC, ECHO, UN, AECID or USAID. We’ll expect you to demonstrate a proven success at securing funds as well as experience of narrative and financial reporting. Your background will have given you a real understanding of development issues. On top of your excellent communication and presentation skills, you’ll be highly numerate and have a real analytical ability. You’ll be the kind of person who has the knowledge, qualities and skills to be a real influence on this area and someone who’s a great addition to any team.
Geographically the focus of your work will be Haiti and the Dominican Republic. However, it might be times that you need to support other programs in the Latin American region. In order to do that and to engage with the wider Christian Aid you will need an excellent level of French, Spanish and English.
Qualifications Requises
Essentials skills and experience required for this role are:
• University degree or equivalent qualification
• Expertise in working with institutional donors (e.g. EU, DFID, USAID) on funding proposals and grant management
• High level of numeracy and understanding of financial controls and procedures
• Project Cycle Management skills
• Understanding of international development issues and donor trends
• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills in French, Spanish and English
• Excellent writing skills in French, Spanish and English
• Confidence in building relationships internally with senior colleagues in Christian Aid and external agencies and donors
• Excellent IT skills especially word processing and spreadsheets

Gross Annual Salary: USD 35,158 (Haiti) or USD 31,218 (Dominican Republic)
Based: Port au Prince (Haiti) or Sto. Domingo (Dominican Republic)
