Child Health and Nutrition Manager
MISSION

Working in partnership with local governments, Zanmi Lasante delivers high-quality, comprehensive health care that saves lives while strengthening health systems and helping patients overcome socioeconomic barriers to good health. Ninety-three percent of the funds we raise go to our programs, which employ 13,000 people in the countries where we work.
Zanmi Lasante proposes to provide technical assistance for the Health Systems Strengthening contract (SSQH) in WASH, Child Protection and Nutrition activities in 2 contract areas, throughout the South, Southwest, West and Central areas of Haiti. Initially, Zanmi Lasante is expected to conduct a series of reviews, assessments of existing services and facilities, capacity of current staff and mechanisms in place related to WASH, Child Health, Protection and Nutrition.
Through these initial evaluations, Zanmi Lasante will then develop a way forward/strategic plan to accommodate the needs of facilities in catchment areas related to CHW training, curriculum development, WASH facility improvements. For the first year, Zanmi Lasante will target 20 facilities and 40 health providers in WASH, Child Health, Nutrition and Protection.
Zanmi Lasante seeks an experienced Child Health and Nutrition Manager to lead activities for the organization.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
1. Maintain at least 95% of children under one fully vaccinated in the contract’s catchment areas each year of the contract
2. 10% yearly increase in the number of children under five who received Vitamin A from USG-supported programs
3. Increase by 5% yearly the number of children under five reached by USG-supported nutrition programs
4. 10% improvement in nutritional status of children under five years old in the contract implementation areas
5. Increase by 10% yearly prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding of children under 6 months in the contract implementation areas
6. 5% reduction yearly in the prevalence of anemia among women of reproductive age
Fonctions
KEY ACTIVITIES:
• Conduct assessment of catchment area facilities current practices in tracking immunizations for newborns
• Evaluate current system for immunization record keeping
• Make recommendations based on initial evaluations on best methods (SOP) for maintenance of newborn immunizations (provided by MSPP)
• Make recommendations (if necessary) for record keeping improvements
• Determine current practices in consultations related to vaccinations and micronutrients
• Make recommendations based on initial review of consultation process in order to duplicate satisfactory existing consultation practices and make improvements where necessary
• Set up follow up support to facilities and outreach teams to monitor consultation approaches
• Review national protocols for community monitoring of child health
• Work with MSPP and facility staff in establishing (if not already in place) benchmarks for community child health
• Support facility staff in setting up regular review sessions to monitor capacity building community child health benchmarks
• Review current Title II program areas in relation to catchment areas (CARE DFAP) and track where overlapping is possible for support to pregnant and lactating women for the provision of nutritional services
• Work directly with facility staff and local partners of Title II programming within catchment areas in determining best practices for linking children under five with current food voucher programs
• Determine current practices for the maintenance of mothers groups
• Work with facility staff in determining best practices for information sharing within mothers groups
• Review current practices for CHWs in promoting exclusive breastfeeding
STAFF MANAGEMENT
Manage and oversee assigned team including participation in recruitment, day-to-day management, development and training, appraisals, etc.

REPORTING AND M&E
Provide monthly report on activities achieved vs planned as well as provide data for reports developed for project. Support regular monitoring and evaluation assessments conducted against project objectives and to ensure the quality of the program.
LOGISTICS
Coordinate with WASH, Nutrition and Child Health managers planned trainings, team workshops, traveling to the field, etc.
Qualifications Requises
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in child health and nutritional programming in both development and emergency settings
Familiarity with clinical set up and functionality in rural settings
Background in setting up child health benchmarks with communities
Minimum of 5 years of experience in community mobilization and capacity building of staff
Qualifications in medical or nursing, health, social development or other supportive field
Experience working with national counterparts at both department and national levels
Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, beneficiaries, other agencies and local authorities
Experience in curriculum and training development
Team-player with good inter-personal skills
Excellent communicator, able to share information with ease
Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels
Able to work effectively in a wide variety of situations
Capacity to track and maintain expenditures and provide financial feedback back
