JOB SUMMARY

At the direction of the Mental health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Specialist, coordinate the administrative aspects of mental health into primary health care service at basic primary health care centers across Les Cayes, Grand’Anse and Sud Departments in Haiti impacted by the earthquake in line with WHO mhGAP Humanitarian Intervention Guidelines. Facilitate communication with field programs so as to efficiently support field operations.


Qualifications Requises



• Facilitate communications between MHPSS Specialist and health care facilities; serve as a resource person and provide interpretation support as needed between MHPSS Specialist and health care facilities to support the integration and communication of the program; handle routine correspondence and resolve minor administrative/programmatic issues with the MHPSS Specialist.

• Plays key role in PSS program development in coordination with MHPSS Specialist to meet program deliverables and objectives.

• Implement timely MHPSS trainings and workshops for GPs, Nurses, and CHAs.

• Monitor trained GPs, Nurses, and CHAs and provide technical support following initial training.

• Carry out MHPSS program implementation, including facilitation of programmatic and technical support staff to ensure timely completion of program objectives.

• Assist in field visits to monitor, identify issues and find resolutions to ensure timely and quality implementation of PSS program activities.

• Support collection of MHPSS program data at target health facilities, compile information and draft narrative and quantitative reports for submission to MHPSS Specialist, the Program and Data Coordinator, Team Lead and HQ as required to monitor program implementation and evaluate outcomes.

• Ensure timely generation of support supervision plans for trainees at the different levels as will be communicated by the MHPSS Specialist.

Qualifications

• Psychiatrist (highly desirable) or psychologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience working on MHPSS programs in humanitarian settings

• Knowledge of the IASC MHPSS guidelines in emergency settings

• mh-GAP training and supervision experience strongly preferred

• Capacity building/curriculum development experience in community-based PSS programming.

• Fluency in French and English required

• Intermediate Haitian Creole strongly preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in setting up MHPSS programs in rapid onset disaster/natural disaster settings

• Management, training and supervision experience required

• Strong organizational and supervisory skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within different cultural environments

• Ability to work within a team structure or in isolation, flexible, and can cope with stressful environment with limited resources

• In addition to the responsibilities referenced above, candidate can expect to be living and working in austere conditions. Lifting moderately heavy objects from the ground, carrying a backpack for extended periods of time, and walking or hiking in remote locations may be necessary to perform these functions.
