Introduction

In the frame of the activities of the IOM health programme (Cholera Response, Health Information and Education Projects), under the direct supervision of the Health Operations Team and the overall supervision of the Health Programme Manager, the incumbent will perform the following duties:


Fonctions

General Functions

In particular, he/she will:

1.Conduct assessments to define health and communication needs of persons living in IDP settlements as well as health facility mapping in the designated commune.

2.Liaise with IOM and DPC camp managers in the recruitment of new community health brigadiers/agents according to the selection criteria.

3.Provide training on a variety of health topics to community health brigadiers/agents, community leaders and partner organizations in your designated commune(s).

4.Monitor and support the activities of health brigadiers, including operations of Oral Rehydration Posts (ORPs) and undertake measures to ensure that they are operating to the standards of the MSPP community strategy. Conduct regular visits.

5.Monitor and supervise the activities of the Community Health Field Assistants as well as the community health brigadiers/agents in IDP settlements through daily visits and regular team meetings.

6.Facilitate and conduct medical Provide information and advice for referrals of most vulnerable cases/ to nearby secondary or tertiary health facilities as needed.

7.Collect and analyze health information from Health Brigadiers/IDP settlement for response action, planning and evaluation. Share information with relevant partners.

8.Provide weekly reports on activities undertaken, the progress of community health brigadiers/agents, and relevant surveillance data for your designated commune. Share this with IOM CMOs and DSO.

9.Liaise with the Communal Health Director (MSPP), health partners, communities and local and international organizations to coordinate activities and discuss strategy amongst agencies.

10.Work with the Health Logistics Assistant to fill gaps in resources at the community level.

11.Be available to work on weekends and public holidays in the case of an emergency and participate in regular on-call roster for weekends and public holidays.

12.Perform any other duty as may be assigned.





Qualifications réquises

Qualifications required

Education/Experience

a) Secondary degree in nursing, Health Sciences, Social Work or any other related subjects. -At least 4 years experience in the health sector with experience working with NGOs is an advantage; b) Demonstrated experience and confidence in training and supervision of community workers; c) Knowledge of a range of important community health topics such as cholera prevention and treatment, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health; d) proven experience in coordination at a local and communal level
e) Flexibility, ability to work in difficult situations including camps
Strong communication skills are a must; f) Good computer literacy, demonstrated report writing ability and good administrative skills. g)Willingness to work on weekends and at night in the case of an emergency; h)Competent in data collection and analysis; i)ability to liaise independently with partners and government actors; j)ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

Languages

Fluent in Creole/French; working knowledge of English an advantage.
