Introduction

To provide timely, pro-active and effective support to Watsan Team for the spoken and written English/French translation and vice versa


Fonctions




1. Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained;


2. Researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation; proofreading and editing final translated versions;


3. Providing Watsan team with a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word-processed document;


4. Providing quotations for translation services offered;


5. Retaining and developing specialist knowledge on specialist areas of translation;


6. Interprets spoken statements from one language into another


7. Maintains records of materials translated and interpreting contacts.


8. Check original texts or confer with authors to ensure that translations retain the content, meaning, and feeling of the original material.


9. Check translations of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation revisions.


10. Compile terminology and information to be used in translations, including technical


11. Listen to speakers' statements in order to determine meanings and to prepare translations,


12. Translate messages simultaneously or consecutively into specified languages orally , maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible.


13. Follow ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information.


14. Identify and resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviours.


15. Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.


Qualifications réquises

University degree in related fields
Fluent spoken and written English, French and Creole. Other Federation language would be an asset.
Three years experience in translating and/or interpreting the appropriate language into/from English,
Experience in an international organizational

Skills in interpreting and translating the appropriate language into/from English
. Ability to work autonomously and accurately.

. Knowledge of computer systems and applications
