Senior officer in Humanitarian aid and disast

Zanmi Lasante/PIH · ONG

I’m a MD graduated from the Latin American School (ELAM-2008) and I ’m a postgraduate student at Harvard Medical School. Recently, in May 2014 I obtain a master degree of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery. The master of Medical Sciences in Global Health delivery (MMSc-GHD) is a 2 years program. The MMSc-GHD combines a rigorous cross-university curriculum focused on the development of the tools needed to perform social and delivery science and policy research in resource limited settings. The program covers quantitative methods, qualitative methods, mixed methods approaches to monitoring and evaluation, societal response to natural and non-natural disaster, international humanitarian response, global health delivery and research ethics, and theoretical perspectives from the social sciences relevant to medicine. I started the study on July 2012 and ended it on May 2014 receiving awards and my diploma. My thesis defense was based on the Humanitarian aid after the 2010 Haiti earthquake: the case of accompaniment. My thesis explored the role accompaniment played in positive outcomes in humanitarian aid after the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The significance of this study is to promote better collaboration and partnership between those affected by disaster, the local government, and the NGOs. From January 2010 to November 2011, I worked as a senior humanitarian aid officer for Partners In Health/ Zanmi Lasante (ZL). In 2010, I played a key role at the Jean Marie Vincent Park site (PJMV), one of the main camps for displaced persons that formed following the country’s devastating earthquake. My team and I managed the efficient delivery of healthcare, water, food, sanitation, and shelters to thousands of distressed families according to the sphere project (The humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response) and the humanitarian principles. We established and maintained relationships between the PJMV team and the Haitian community and the camp committee leaders
