CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 2: either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a police check will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Media and Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting the Haiti Country Office on executing an integrated communications strategy in alignment with Save the Children’s visibility, advocacy and fundraising goals, to position Save the Children as the leading independent organization for children’s rights, to connect and interact with key audiences to gain support for the mission of Save the Children in Haiti and inLatin America and the Caribbean (LAC), and support in the implementation of communication actions within the framework of projects, emergency responses and campaigns.
The Media and Communications Officer will be in charge of executing our digital communications strategy and ensuring we reach new audiences and expand our impact. Finally, the Regional Communications officer will support the coordination with country offices and engage them in regional and global campaigns.


Fonctions

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
 Development of communication actions related to programs, emergency responses and campaigns in progress; taking Gender and Child Safeguarding into consideration.
 Development, implementation and monitoring the country social media strategy. Produce reports and impact analysis.
 Produce new content and update internal communications channels: Workplace, OneNet and newsletters, including campaigns, PASC and COM updates.
 Evaluation of digital capacities. Implementation of plan for improved digital communication
 Management and development of institutional communication materials (case studies, photos, videos, blogs)
 Elaboration of communications materials focused on our regional priorities: adolescents and Children on the Move.
 Elaboration of communications materials for our ‘Stop the War on Children’ campaign
 Elaboration of communications materials for other timely events and anniversaries (Save the Children’s 100 year anniversary, the 30 year anniversary for the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the 10 year Haiti Earthquake anniversary etc.)

Qualifications Requises

 Bachelor University degree in communications, preferably in journalism or communication for
development.
 2 years experience on internships or similar positions.
 Ability to work fluently in English with good knowledge of French and Creole.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
 Demonstrated experience on communication strategies development, including digital, social media
and traditional media plans.
 Skills to develop advocacy and communications campaigns for external audiences.
 Writing skills for blogs, press releases, media briefs and creating key messages.
 Experience on internal communications and using digital platforms to engage internal audiences.
 Ability to work with others, including in a remote way, deal with multi-cultural environments and
establish harmonious and effective working relationships with colleagues.
 Experience on research and development of internal/external communications products.
 Experience with graphic design and editing programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Premier,
among others.
 Full computer literacy in standard office products.
 Experience of work in non-profit sector a plus
 Ability to work prioritize multiple tasks and strong planning/anticipation skills.
