Introduction

The Agency for International Development in Haiti is recruiting a Technical Expert in Shelter Management to assist the Civil Protection Direction (DPC) in improving the
shelter management.

Qualifications réquises

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in shelters management, development of shelters and refuges terminology, evaluation of shelters management during the hurricane season, or specialized in disaster management. A Master’s degree in areas that are directly relevant to the position requirements is highly preferred given the level of works likely with the GOH and donor community the expert will be expected to develop and maintain.
Work Experience: Minimum of five years of professional experience in a relevant field with preference given to someone with significant professional experience in/or related programs.
Knowledge: Familiarity with shelter management, ability to support the Civil Protection Direction (DPC) in the development & implementation of a shelter management strategy within the National Risk and Disaster Management System.
Language: Fluency (both written and spoke) in French and English and Creole is required.
Skills and Aptitudes: Willingness to work outside normal hours, ability to take initiative, sense of organization with NGO’s and community, ability to work within the Management System, discipline, ability to work in team and under pressure; ability to travel regularly outside of Port-au-Prince, ability to manage multiple tasks. The successful candidate must have demonstrated initiative in previous assignments to be able to develop a network of contacts that facilitate the achievement of desired program. She/he will be expected to work with USAID, GOH officials and other donors.
