HelpAge International is a global network striving for the Rights of the disadvantaged older people to economic and physical security; healthcare and social security, and support in their care giving role across the generations.

HelpAge International (HAI) is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Programme Officer Emergencies to be located in Haiti. Appointment will be on a 1-year contract with possibility of renewal.

Key Responsabilities
The successful candidate will support HAI partner organizations in Haiti and the wider Caribbean in improving their capacity to prepare foe and reduce the impact of emergencies on vulnerable households, particularly older people. He/she will play a leading role in helping partners to develop effective community response mechanisms and ensuring the integration of disaster mitigation, preparedness and response in their work with older people.

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
-Degree level education in development studies, social sciences or related fields
- Knowledge of Haiti and the wider Caribbean region
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with a wide range of people at different levels
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft word, Excel)
- Fluency in French and English

Experience
- Field experience working with disaster preparedness and risk reduction programmes
- Experience in project design and proposal writing and report writing
- Experience in designing and facilitating training programmes
- Experience in working with NGOs and community based organizations
- Experience in networking and advocacy work
