Introduction



To assure adequacy of the water supply and that a safe standard of hygiene and sanitation is being maintained for the water purification activities at all times in the IFRC Base Camp.


Fonctions

• Contact water suppliers to arrange daily deliveries, ensuring that the tanks are refilled as soon as they are emptied.
• Checking and sampling each delivery to verify quantity in accordance with set standards.
• Periodic checking and sampling of the water quality in accordance with the stipulated frequency.
• Ensuring that adequate supplies of chlorinates and other consumables used in the purification process are readily available.
• Checking and cleaning of tanks in accordance with the set schedule
• Preparation and submission of daily and weekly reports regarding water quality and volume of water processed
• Ensuring that the water treatment plants are functional and serviced on a daily basis.
• Performing basic maintenance, as required, on plumbing lines and fixtures.
• Reporting to IFRC Base Camp technical Supervisor of any condition which could compromise the flow and/or quality of water to the base camp.
• Perform another related duty as instructed by the IFRC Base Camp Manager


Qualifications réquises

Diploma in Water engineering, water & sanitation management, or related field from a recognised institution
At least one year’s experience in similar position
Familiarity with the local network of potable water supplies
Must be able to work with minimum supervisor
Ability to perform water quality analysis unsupervised
Ability to perform basic plumbing functions
Ability to work under pressure
Basic IT competence (word processing, spreadsheets ;..)
Basic English
Self motivation and pro-activity
Commitment to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
