Introduction

CHF International’s mission is to be a catalyst for long-lasting positive change in low- and moderate-income communities around the world, helping them to improve their social, economic and environmental conditions. CHF is currently seeking a Debris Manager. CHF will establish a scale-able strategy for neighborhood and community-based settlement planning, spurring residual effect of social cohesion and resilient livelihoods. The proposed approach combines the provision of emergency assistance with collaborative and in-depth planning to establish self-managed urban communities. This $9m program will run for a period of 12 months and is designed to meet the basic humanitarian needs of earthquake affected, displaced households by providing safe, habitable neighborhoods and create the conditions for the upgrading of essential services


Fonctions

The Debris Manager will manage and ensure the successful implementation of the debris removal component of a program; and manage direct staff and subcontractors. Additionally, the Debris Manager will lead and provide expertise in planning a phased approach to demolition and rubble removal activities in a congested, challenging urban setting; ensure response to immediate debris removal problems with simultaneous consideration of resolution of longer-term needs; with the Program Director, determine priorities for debris removal, plan sites, and select equipment, keeping in mind potential environmental issues; and coordinate with other team members and CHF staff, especially logistics, shelter and other technical sectors, to ensure a rapid, proportionate and effective response.


Qualifications réquises

Heavy equipment operator certification required. Master’s degree in related field preferred. •Minimum ten years of demolition and debris removal in complex urban setting, including two years of project management experience. Previous work within an NGO preferred. •General finance, administration, information management and telecommunication skills and proficiency in information technology/ computer skills. •Fluency in English and French or Haitian Creole required.
