Build Change (www.buildchange.org) is an award-winning, international non-profit social enterprise that specializes in post-earthquake reconstruction. Build Change has extensive experience working in Banda Aceh and Sumatra, Indonesia and Sichuan, China. In Haiti, Build Change provides hands-on technical assistance and training directly to homeowners and builders during the rebuilding process to enable them to build safe homes that will withstand any future earthquake.

• Provide a full range of construction technical services at construction project sites in greater Port-au-Prince.
• Conduct construction quality inspection tests at construction sites to include:
-Concrete slump tests
-Ground compaction tests of foundations and slabs
-Bore concrete cores from concrete slabs
-Concrete compression tests
-Collect sample concrete blocks and other building materials
-Review the ties for all steel rebar connections prior to pouring
• Conduct tests in a time sensitive manner; recognizing the need for contractors to continue work in an uninterrupted manner.
• Maintain complete and detailed record of all tests and results; disseminating the results as required under the project.
• Coordinate with the Client’s technical staff to schedule site inspections and testing.
• Provide technical information to Clients in order to assist them in meeting the specified construction standards.
• Coordinate as necessary with clients, municipal authorities and inspectors assigned to the project.
• Coordinate with the Build Change construction training teams to carry out training support activities at project sites.
• Coordinate with the Build Change Finance Department for billing of technical and testing services.
• Represent Build change at project technical meetings as required.
• Ensure that the project is implemented in an ethical, consultative, participatory manner with all participants.

• University degree. Preference for graduates in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
• 2 years experience in testing of building materials in the laboratory or on the project site.
• Familiarity working in construction sites to collect samples and conduct tests.
• Attention to detail and quality control.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports.
• Ability to complete tasks on a deadline.
• Fluency in French and Creole. English language is a plus.
• Proficiency with internet and Microsoft Office.
• An understanding of humanitarian principles and development ethics.

Build Change provides construction technical services to NGOs and construction companies with housing projects located in the greater Port-au-Prince area. The Materials Testing Specialist would be part of a mobile construction inspection unit that evaluates and reports on construction quality in local housing projects.
