Introduction

HelpAge International is a global network of not for profit organizations with a mission to work with and for disadvantaged older people. We stand up for the right of older people. During the emergency phase in Haiti HelpAge International improved health and lives of over 5,000 older people in around 100 camps supported by the program. The program envisages reaching 10,000 older people within the coming 12 month with basic health care, secondary emergency care and Mental Health and Psychosocial support in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, Grand Guave, Petit Guave and Leogan communes. We focus at maximizing access to health care for older people living in Camps through integration of health services in collaboration with Health Partners on the ground. This is made possible by the presence of community network of “friends for older people” that work as Home-based Care providers. These identify and refer sick older people from camps to identified health facilities within their camp/commune.


Fonctions

The post holder will be responsible for camps in communes under the project. The post holder will coordinate health and psychosocial activities for HelpAge International and its health partners at camp/commune level. They will be responsible for monitoring and evaluation and teaming up to source needed data for the program from their areas of duty. They will always be representatives of older people’s interest in preventive and curative health issues at camp and commune level.

Key Duties:

1. Maximizing health services to older People in the camps through:

a. Coordination of referrals at Camp/Communal level to health clinics and Hospitals
b. Ensure close collaboration between HAI and the health partners in the field in provision of health care to older people with timely and adequate medicine and medical supplies
c. Ensure timely data collection from the field and partner health facilities to HAI office
d. Represent HelpAge International as well as older people in health related activities/meetings at camp/communal level as appropriate
e. Play role in preventive care at camp level with regular follow-ups of chronically ill older people
f. Ensure registration of all beneficiaries referred to secondary care center into HelpAge database as appropriate
2. Participate in mental Health and Psychosocial Support services provided by HelpAge International to the beneficiaries
3. Involvement in the identification and mapping of camps within the identified operation areas
4. Follow-up of the OP found to have chronic illnesses for support services
5. Perform any other task assigned to you by the office


Qualifications réquises

Essential
• Licensed Nurse in Haiti
• Haitian by nationality
• Having experience with working with International health agencies will be added advantage
• Demonstrated experience in clinical and community Nursing
• Fluent in spoken and written French and English
• Understanding of humanitarian services and particularly working with and for older people
• Knowledgeable in computer applications
• Ability to work in extreme environment


Conditions de travail

Candidate must be able to travel to Jacmel and Leogane for field visits
