Support and strengthen community capacity in public health by promoting hygiene through awareness and training of target populations. Accompany them through their involvement in public health projects.

General Functions:

In particular, he/she will:

1.Conduct rapid community awareness campaigns to support engineering activities (for example a community handwashing when handwashing stations are set up and when potential disease outbreaks are suspected.

2.Work as both an animator and trainer of different sectors and age groups eg teachers, children and women’s groups.

3.Have or develop knowledge of public health responses and messaging required for public health response in the cases of different outbreaks.

4.Evaluate the public health needs in the areas intervention in collaboration with
resource persons that area and beneficiaries.

5.Make the collection of data to analyze the real problems of the communities targeted for a better action level of awareness.

6.Identify training needs of beneficiary communities to support them in setting up
Committees (or other structures supportive to WASH and public health activities) that can help them through a constant awareness of good hygiene practices and prevention of diseases.

7.Raise awareness and participate in the training of resource persons in the community and the target population in the areas of intervention.

8.Work with other team members to ensure an integrated response to public health needs.

9.Participate in the development of teaching materials for training in public health.

10.Proceed to the distribution of hygiene kits and other materials according to procedures established in its area of intervention.

11.Tell supervisor of any difficulties encountered or threats on the ground and propose solutions to improve the work.

12.Monitor the activities under your area of responsibility and prepare reports on the
progress of projects to his/her supervisor.

13.Ensure that planned activities take account of gender and marginalized populations, and include mechanisms to enable women and marginalized people to participate in decision making

14.Perform any other duties consistent with its duties that may ask his supervisor.

Secondary degree in community health, public health, nursing, social sciences or equivalent.
At least three (3) years meaningful experience in the field of community awareness in public health.
Experience in training and entertainment for adults and children.
Experience in advocacy / community participation in public health.
Good knowledge of written and oral communication and good computer skills.
Good knowledge and understanding of risks to health and hygiene for the displaced

Languages:
Thorough knowledge of English and French required.

Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
