Fonctions

Role Purpose:

The Curriculum & Training Specialist (CTS) is tasked with developing new curricula for primary schools and parent clubs. The CTS will work with HFH’s Education, Finance, and MEAL teams to develop curriculums focused on:

Teaching Reading and Writing to Early Learners;
Mother-tongue instruction for students in First Fundamental Cycle level;
Reviewing and updating school garden program content;
School Administration and Accounting;
School Financing;
How parents and caretakers can be involved in their children’s learning; and
Non-Traditional Learning.
Once the curriculums are developed, the CTS will lead training for teachers, parents, and school leadership in 21 communities. The CTS will be responsible for creating a monitoring and evaluating system for the schools to use and develop impact and student result reports. The Curriculum & Training Specialist reports directly to the Education Program Director (EPD).

Major Responsibilities:

Design training program for improving third grade reading, writing, and comprehension skills
Design/Adapt curriculum in collaboration with HFH Education Team and other key stakeholders
Create training schedule with schools
Launch Program
Design training program to integrate and/or improve Haitian Creole instruction in the lower fundamental levels
Design/Adapt curriculum in collaboration with the HFH Education Team and other key stakeholders
Create training schedule with the schools
Launch Program
Design training/Workshops for parent leadership and other caretakers on how they can support their children learning outside of school
Design/Adapt curriculum in collaboration with HFH Education Team and other key stakeholders
Create training schedule with schools and parent leadership
Launch Program
Design training/workshops for school leadership on how to effectively play their role in terms of school administration, accounting and HR
Design/Adapt curriculum in collaboration with HFH Education Team and other key stakeholders
Create training schedule with schools and parent leadership
Launch Program
Host workshops for school leaders for increasing school financing and how to raise funds for sustainability
Design/Adapt workshop in collaboration with HFH Education Team and Finance Program Trainer
Create training schedule with schools directors
Host workshops
Develop M&E systems for measuring the short-term and long-term impact of the new curriculum and methodologies
Collaborate with the MEAL Officer to include MEAL system within curriculums
Work with School Leadership to ensure that the systems are manageable
Continuously monitor and evaluate the curriculums and training
Impact and Monitoring reports produced annually.


Qualifications réquises

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE



5-10 years of experience working on curriculum development and teacher training in a humanitarian/recovery context;
Experience in early childhood education, including teaching teachers how to teach reading, writing and comprehension skills;
Experience in mother-tongue instruction in a bilingual context;
Good communicator with strong organizational, time management and analytical skills;
Excellent interpersonal, cultural and diplomatic skills;
Superior writing and editing skills in Haitian Kreyol;
Experience with community-based projects/activities;
Experience working with vulnerable groups; able to demonstrate conflict-sensitivity, compassion, discretion;
Experience in managing education projects/activities that require community participation;
Skills in monitoring and evaluation would be beneficial;
Strong computer skills: must be competent in the use of Windows MS office, Endless OS, Google Suite, Asana, Bamboo and M&E tools like Salesforce and CommCare;
Fluency in Haitian Creole and English, spoken and written, is required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, National position based in Les Cayes, Haiti. This position is NOT accompanied and the organization provides no relocation, logistics or housing packages. Compensation is based off of Hope for Haiti’s Compensation Scale.
