Introduction

Save the Children, the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need around the world, are looking for candidates for the following critical positions for Haiti: Programs Director


Fonctions

To provide strong leadership to the Save the Children in Haiti program and ensure implementation of quality, integrated programs throughout the Country Office. The Programs Director will directly supervise all sector leads/advisors and will ensure strong program design, implementation and reporting. S/he will also directly supervise the M&E staff, ensuring quality, evidence-based programming and effective monitoring and evaluation systems and protocols are in place. The Programs Director will ensure that program activities are effective and meet the designated goals and objectives of Save the Children and the target population. S/he will play a key role in the development of new programs for the Country Office.


Qualifications réquises

Requires at least 10 years experience in holistic development work and at least 5 years experience working in an emergency setting.
Requires knowledge of and commitment to Save the Children, its history, objectives, ministries and systems, and values.
Must have strong and demonstrated strategic planning skills.
Must have knowledge of and proven experience in management, including financial management, and including management of a large team of expatriate and national experts.
Must have experience with various government and multi-lateral funding sources. Knowledge of the SPHERE manual is helpful. Good general knowledge of at least some of the following sectors: nutrition, health, WASH, child protection, HIV AIDS, Food Security & Livelihoods and food emergency programs. Must be culturally sensitive and have the ability to communicate and work effectively cross-culturally. Requires good interpersonal skills with ability to build personal relationships with staff, partners and leaders at all levels. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation and administrative abilities. Requires ability to live and travel in difficult circumstances, with a cognizance of security risks, policies and procedures.
Experience working in a high stress environment and ability to live in conditions of physical hardship.
Requires at least a BA or higher degree in a related field, Masters preferred.
Fluency in English and French or Creole.
Experience in grant compliance and management.
