Introduction

International Organization is seeking individual for the position of
DEPUTY NATIONAL NUTRITION COORDINATOR
Port au Prince, Jacmel, Leogane Commune including Petite Goave and other impacted areas


Fonctions

Job Purpose
To deputise to the national nutrition adviser, supporting advising and coordinating the emergency nutrition response. Specifically: participating and actively engaging in internal and external coordination mechanisms; overseeing start up / expansion and implementation of community management of acute malnutrition programmes and activities to protect, promote and support infant and young child feeding; ensuring that the all components of the programme are functioning properly, providing care of quality to all the patients/beneficiaries through respecting protocols and principles of good practice; conducting further assessments as required and contributing to strategies and proposals.

Key accountabilities
• Assessments: Lead assessments and contribute to strategic decision making and work planning for the nutrition component of the response as well as concept note and proposal writing
• Implementation: Assist in the set up, management and supervision of project site activities and staff at designated clinics / mobile teams and in the community (activities: Outpatient Therapeutic Programmes, Supplementary Feeding Programmes, Community Mobilisation, and IYCF activities: community and clinic based breastfeeding promotion activities, clinic based mother and child pair assessments and breastfeeding counselling, home visits for breastfeeding counselling, community based peer mother group meetings, etc)
• Capacity building: conduct trainings to build the capacity of staff/volunteers, MoH staff and the community at large in identification and management of the malnourished and in prevention of malnutrition, including in promotion and support of breastfeeding
• Coordination and communication: Attend and contribute to coordination meetings as requested; ensure close working relationships and partnerships with MoH and others; communicate with emergency and regularly update the emergency team leader, relevant team members, and headquarter health advisor on the nutrition situation response; liaise daily with the Health sector lead as well as regularly update other sector leads (in Education, Protection, Shelter, Water/Sanitation and Food Security Livelihoods) to ensure an integrated approach to the emergency response-specifically to maintain linkages across program strategy, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation.


Qualifications réquises

Core Competencies & Qualifications
Essential:
• Health / Public Health / Nutrition / Agriculture BSc or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years experience working in Haiti, including at the national level
• Demonstrable management experience
• Experience of emergency nutrition work and the design and implementation of feeding programmes (ideally CMAM as well as IYCF experience), including monitoring and evaluation
• Experience in conducting nutrition assessments and an understanding of nutritional surveillance and information systems
• Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff
• Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
• Prepared to live and work in an uncertain security environment
• Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field (Jacmel and Leogane)
• Demonstrable ability at report writing and excellent communication skills
• Computer literacy
• Fluency in written and spoken English, French and Creole
