Background:
In order to ensure accurate French/English translation of reports, policies, and procedures and other official documents for Habitat Haiti, we require a contract for translation services during the period of one year.

Timeframe:
1. Up to 2000 words in ONE working day
2. 2000 to 6000 words in THREE working days
3. For every 2000 words an additional working day
Responsibilities:
The translator will be responsible for:
1. Producing a 100% accurate translation of English to French or vice-versa. Content accuracy includes detailed comparison of content, facts and figures and making sure there are no omissions from the source; translations and proofreading all footnotes and/or endnotes, boxes, captions under photographs, lists etc.
2. Ensuring English/French language excellence and proofreading, including vocabulary, syntax, expression and grammar as well as all relevant terminology. The translator is expected to perform terminology research to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of translation.
3. The translator will have to use the original word document and only replace text in it (in the boxes etcetera) since it will make it easier for the layout person to do the layout when the translated document is in this format.
4. Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation; ensuring that no typographical errors are left in the final text.
5. The translation submitted to Habitat under this TOR is the property of Habitat and cannot be submitted, distributed to or used by any other party.
6. The translator is obligated to work within the required deadlines and be available to Habitat for comments and corrections.
7. Live simultaneous translation may be required during the period of this contract for specific meetings or events.


Profil du consultant ou des consultants ou de la firme

Required Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated experience in translating professional documents
2. Excellent knowledge of French and English; excellent French/English language skills, writing and typing skills.

Composition of the offer:
The offer must be composed as follows:
1. For companies: patent, Quitus, vendor registration form filled, and updated CV of different translators with relevant experiences in translation, and references of previous works;
2. For individual translator: update CV with relevant experiences in translation, with references of previous works, and vendor registration form filled;
3. Financial proposal: Detailed quotation with price per word and price per hour for simultaneous translation including TCA.

NB: All contracted translators will be subject to a tax deduction of 2% for independent translators recognized in Haiti, and 20% for international translators or companies not recognized in Haiti.
