Introduction

Under the overall supervision of the head of OCHA office and direct supervision of the Deputy Head of Office in Port au Prince, the Associate Humanitarian Affairs Officer shall perform the following duties:


Fonctions

Summary of key functions

Coordination of Humanitarian /Advocacy : Prepare inventories of on-going and planned project activities of ail agencies/organizations; with local Government and humanitarian agencies/organizations, assist in identifying beneficiary croups, sectors and/geographical areas ; Assist in identifying gaps/overlap of activities and recommend suitable solutions; Assist in coordinating the mobilization of resources; Prepare inputs to any Appeal document; Work closely with the DPC (Direction de la Protection Civile) and other relevant Disaster Management Committee (KPSL); Work closely with local authorities and humanitarian agencies to ensure adequate protection of civilians.

Information Sharing : Support/facilities donor and headquarter missions to the assigned area; Prepare regular humanitarian updates on the assigned area ; Assist in establishing and maintaining a network of stakeholders for purposes of collecting data on key indicators required for early warning and routine monitoring.

Qualifications réquises

University Degree (Masters) in human rights law; Economics, international relations social sciences, development studies and/or a field relevant to emergency care, medical and related areas, humanitarian and international assistance. Mobility is a requirement
- Fluent in Written and spoken French. Good knowledge in English, Creole is essential.

-At least five (5) years of postgraduate experience, if possible in humanitarian assistance, emergency or development projects. Familiarity with the UN system is an added advantage; Good analytical skills; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, negotiating skills; ability to work in a team with persons of different backgrounds. Ability to work independently to prioritize and plan own work. Computer Skills required.
