VACANCY: ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE, BILINGUAL, CARIBBEAN FORUM OF AFRICAN, CARIBBEAN AND PACIFIC STATES (CARIFORUM)





Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified nationals of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States and Associate Members of the Caribbean Community to fill the abovementioned position in the Caribbean Community Secretariat with assigned duty station in Guyana.



Fonctions

Responsible for supporting the smooth and efficient functioning of the Office of the Assistant Secretary-General, CARIFORUM by providing administrative and translation support and generally assisting the Assistant Secretary-General in the attainment of the objectives of the Secretariat in matters pertaining to the Directorate.


Qualifications réquises

Candidates should possess at least a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences plus 3 years working experience in an administrative/research environment. Candidates must also be able to speak, read and write Spanish very well. Computer proficiency will be a requirement.

Conditions de travail

Under the direction of the Assistant Secretary-General, CARIFORUM, the Administrative Officer, Bilingual, CARIFORUM, will be required to:
(a) TRANSLATE correspondence and interact with the relevant CARICOM Secretariat Programmes and regional Institutions, as directed;
(b) DRAFT responses to correspondence as directed by the Assistant Secretary-General;
(c) DRAFT inputs for technical briefs, reports and speeches under the instruction of the Assistant Secretary-General;
(d) RESEARCH issues within the purview of the Directorate;
(e) UNDERTAKE rapporteurial functions at meetings organized by the Directorate as instructed by the Assistant Secretary-General;
(f) PREPARE information in a reader friendly manner for public dissemination on issues relevant to bringing the work of the Directorate to the attention of the general public;
(g) DEVISE a system to monitor responses to correspondence, directives and other forms of communication flowing from the Directorate to Sections, Units and Officers requiring follow-up action. Follow-up the implementation where applicable;
(h) ORGANISE and schedule internal meetings convened by the Directorate ensuring that matters related to venue, notification, documentation etc. are properly addressed;
(i) MAINTAIN an active roster of leave, meetings and overseas travel for members of the Directorate;
(j) PARTICIPATE in the advance planning process normally undertaken in the Directorate in respect to Meetings of the Community and assist the Conference Services Section with implementing pertinent aspects;
(k) PERFORM relevant protocol functions in relation to the Directorate;
(l) PERFORM other related work as assigned by the Assistant Secretary-General, CARIFORUM.
