Introduction

The International Executive Service Corps (IESC) is an international, not-for-profit organization with over 40 years of experience promoting economic growth and development worldwide. One of IESC's core capabilities is stimulating development of tourism as an engine of economic growth. IESC is the lead partner in the tourism development component of the USAID Haiti MarChE project. The MarChE project will stimulate the development of competitive interrelated market chains in the agribusiness, handicrafts, and tourism sectors in Haiti.
IESC is seeking a qualified Tourism Coordinator with a start date of December 2008 or January 2009. The Tourism Coordinator position is a fully funded, full-time, three-year position based in Port-Au-Prince, but with regular travel throughout Haiti.


Fonctions

Responsibilities of the Tourism Project Coordinator will include:

Providing strategic direction and leadership, direct technical assistance, and oversight to tourism activities in the program;
Interfacing and coordinating with MarChE project management and team members on a daily basis;
Establishing and maintaining relationships with all tourism stakeholders in Haiti including private-sector firms, associations, NGOs, and Government / Ministries of Haiti;
Coordinating with IESC Headquarters, expatriate Tourism Sector Strategist, and other team members on design, development, and technical execution of programmatic activities; and
Preparing project reports and ensuring that all deliverables are met.


Qualifications réquises

Ideal candidates will have:

5+ years of professional business experience in Haiti, with experience in the tourism / hospitality industry in Haiti or overseas;
Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, tourism / hospitality, or related field;
Demonstrated strategic planning and management skills complemented by technical expertise in tourism and private sector development, including marketing, investment promotion, capacity building, etc.;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team;
Strong writing skills for project reporting;
Fluency in English and French required, and Creole desired.
