Introduction



Build Change (www.buildchange.org) is an award-winning, international non-profit social enterprise that specializes in post-earthquake reconstruction. Build Change has extensive experience working in Banda Aceh and Sumatra, Indonesia and Sichuan, China. In Haiti, Build Change provides hands-on technical assistance and training directly to homeowners and builders during the rebuilding process to enable them to build safe homes that will withstand a future earthquake.


Fonctions

General:
• As part of the management team, design and implement strategies for new and existing projects.
• Help in problem solving and conflict resolutions in Build Change construction team
• Promote good communication between the Technical group and other departments within Build Change.
• Ensure that Build Change’s projects operated to a high standard with a focus on achieving excellent quality, delivered in a professional manner and to our clients’ satisfaction.
• Market and promote Build Change programs to potential clients.
• Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of program reports for training and other field activities from technical staff under your supervision.
• Assist with the recruitment of new technical staff.
• Assist with technical translation between English/French/Creole when necessary

Technical Assistance/Field Supervision:
• Coordinate Build Change programs activities with community organizations, local governments, NGOs, and individual homeowners in the process of rebuilding their houses.
• Coordinate construction activities and oversee Build Change field staff in the provision of technical assistance to homeowners.
• Conduct regular quality control-inspections to ensure a high standard of construction.
• Develop training resources such as training notes, modules, curriculum, and manuals, etc.
• Conduct and oversee hand-on, practical training courses for builders, homeowners, NGOs, government employees, and other groups as necessary on how to rebuild earthquake-resistant homes.


Qualifications réquises

• University degree or equivalent in a construction-related field or some architecture or engineering education.
• Minimum of 5 years in the construction industry with hands-on knowledge of masonry, concrete, or carpentry.
• An understanding of good construction practices and the principles of earthquake resistant construction.
• Good communication skills with the ability to make a clear presentation in public.
• Fluency in Creole, French and English language.
• Willingness to work in the communities most damaged by the earthquake; for both trainings and in oversight of construction projects.
• Good leadership and organizational skills in managing a dynamic team of over 10 Engineers, resolving conflicts and challenges.
• Proven ability in negotiating consulting projects with Clients
• Ability to complete tasks on a deadline.
• Good Knowledge of construction costs in the local market and ability to structure project budgets.
• An understanding of humanitarian principles and development ethics.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office; with knowledge of Autocad a plus.
