Build Change (www.buildchange.org) is an award-winning, international non-profit engineering company with post-earthquake reconstruction programs in Sumatra, Indonesia and Sichuan, China. Build Change specializes in earthquake-resistant housing reconstruction and provides hands-on technical assistance and training directly to homeowners and builders during the rebuilding process. Build Change has the following position opening.

The Translator/ Program Assistant is responsible for verbal and written translation between Anglais, French, and Creole in a variety of situations, including translation for/ with:
A. Construction Professionals
B. Government officials
C. NGO representatives
D. Research materials
E. Industry executives
F. Other individuals and situations

The Translator will be responsible for taking comprehensive notes on specified meetings/ conversations and keeping track of individuals names and contact information as directed by the program Director.

• Fluency in written and spoken Anglais, French and Creole required
• Translation in Construction Industry a plus
• Experience as a professional translator
• Able to communicate clearly and professionally
• Proven ability to complete tasks on a deadline
• Attention to detail and quality control
• Previous experience with non-profit organizations or an NGO
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and development ethics
• Proficiency with Internet, Excel, Word and other Office applications
