Fonctions

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Under the overall supervision of the Resource Management Officer (RMO) in Haiti and the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Officer, the Senior Project Assistant (Construction) shall be responsible and accountable for the supervision of the construction and renovation works of IOM offices in Haiti, in accordance with the Organization’s regulations and procedures. In particular, he/she will be assigned to the following tasks:

1. Monitor the works progress according to time schedule and report the supervisor immediately regarding any deviation and suggest remedial actions.

2. Report any irregularities and delays to supervisor and suggest and initiate necessary corrective actions.

3. Verify that repairs to collective offices/buildings are carried out in accordance with the specifications provided by IOM and according to the construction standards and quality of materials. Record and report any discrepancies.

4. Submit weekly reports on the progress of the construction work. Assess Buildings and prepare BOQs for repair.

5. Elaborate a report of the conducted construction works and ensure supportive documentation is available: photographic record, weekly reports and BOQ.

6. Participate in the elaboration of the construction guide in cooperation with partners and other IOM
Engineers as required.

7. Provide necessary information and documentation to the supervisor for the preparation of reports.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications réquises

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
• Degree in Civil Engineering; Knowledge and training in local engineering concepts and field
construction methodology.
• At least 4 years of experience in the construction/engineering field; preferably in the Humanitarian
Field.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, PPT, Word)
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and production of construction drawings.
• Excellent interpersonal communication.
• Capacity to respect deadlines.
• Ability to work diplomatically, with empathy and tact. Sensibility to and ability to work with people
from different backgrounds are essential skills.
• Good negotiation skills and problem-solving skills, good organization and good writing skills.
• In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the
Organization; and,
• Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
• Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.


Conditions particulières

LANGUAGES (IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish)
Fluency in French and Creole is required (oral and written).
