Introduction

Following the earthquake in Haiti on 12 January, HelpAge launched an emergency response in Haiti and is committed to extending this into a longer term recovery and rehabilitation programme in support of older people in Haiti.


Fonctions

The Assessment and Monitoring Team Leader will coordinate a team of 8 Assessment officers to gather information relating the humanitarian needs of older people affected by the earthquake. They will be responsible for supporting programme management to ensure HelpAge´s programme in Haiti is coordinated with other government and humanitarian agencies, and to monitor the activities of HelpAge and our partners to assess the impact of the programme in order to improve its effectiveness. They will be directly involved in the planning and design of the methodology for assessment and monitoring activities, and that the collected data is accurately recorded and reported upon.


Qualifications réquises

Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience working in the field of needs assessment or monitoring and evaluation, and have experience of coordinating a team of staff. You should have sound understanding of the issues of social marginalisation of vulnerable people in disaster situations, and ideally will have some field experience of emergency and disaster response activities. Good written and spoken Creole and English are essential for this role, as is the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing needs. Experience of working with International NGOs or experience of advocacy work is highly desirable.
